Now it’s Bert and Ernie on Google’s logo to celebrate Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary. So, now Google has put up Bert and Ernie, the infamous roommates from Sesame Street, to celebrate the show’s anniversary.

It’s third in the series of logos Google has put up in Google Doodle to commemorate the 40th anniversary of one of the most popular TV shows of all times. I and many like me grew watching TV shows like Sesame Street and we have fond memories of the show. It was one of my childhood’s regular activities apart from playing cricket in the streets. Seeing these logos of Google flashed back all those favorite episodes of mine.

Sesame Street was broadcasted for the first time on November 10, 1969. It was aired on a free-to-air channel, Public Broadcast Television (PBS), of United States of America. Since the actual date of the anniversary is 10th of November, many Google users are speculating that Google Doodle’s celebrations will continue till November 10 (which falls on Tuesday next week).

Till date, Google has displayed three different logos, one logo each day. Google’s celebration started on Wednesday, November 4 when Big Bird’s legs replaced the ‘L’ of ‘Google’. On Thursday we saw the Cookie Monster on our screens when we browsed through Google, and on Friday Bert and Ernie were rocking the Google home page. The logo, which displayed Bert and Ernie together, was designed by Dennis Hwang.

Google has been updating its logos to honor celebrities like Albert Einstein, Michael Jackson, Mahatma Gandhi, and Confucius. Its idiosyncratic logos have also celebrated events like the birthday of famous author HG Wells and the Leonardo da Vinci.
