America is covered by thick coats of snow with the arrival of December. Bad weather has prompted school closings in many regions. Western New York, Iowa, Wisconsin, and many regions of California are covered with snow. Alpine Meadows of California has received 42 inches of snow and roads are covered with ice and slush. Albany, New York also receives winter’s first snow storm on Wednesday. Western New York is experiencing one of the coldest winters. Weather Agency states that Buffalo is experiencing the 18th coldest winter of its 100 years history. Forecasters warn of lake-effect snow due to Lake Erie in the south of Buffalo. Forecasters have also published warnings of blizzards and strong winds in Buffalo and Western New York. According to the details, wind will blow at a speed of 60 miles per hours and will make the weather exceptionally cold bringing the temperature below zero degrees. Buffalo roads are experiencing snow accumulation though most of the highways have been plowed and driving could be

hazardous. Due to lake-effect, National Weather Service has issued Weather advisories for Buffalo and Genesee County. According to the weather forecasts, mixed precipitation is expected on Thursday and high wind warning has been issued for the Buffalo County which will remain active till 7 p.m.

Cold weather, snowfall, and winds have called for emergency school closings. School closings are continued and more school districts have announced closings or delays. While snow plowing is being done on almost every highway, slick and slippery roads have made it difficult to drive to roads. Considering the poor conditions of roads, many school districts have announced either closings or delays even if no snowy weather has been forecasted for their regions.
