Mr. Madoff was transferred to a federal prison in Butner, N.C on Monday. In federal prison Madoff will serve his one hundred and fifty years verdict. 71 years old Mr. Madoff sent to Butner Federal Correctional Complex by The Federal Bureau of Prisons, which about thirty miles north of Raleigh and an 8 hour drive from New York City.

The lawyer of Mr. Madoff “Ira Sorkin” had asked that his client be housed and it is not where. Ira Sorkin had also requested the “Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, N.Y. U.S”. District Judge Denny Chin is handling the criminal case of Mr. Madoff in Manhattan indicated that he would suggest that the Ponzi-scheme operative serve up his time in the Northeast. There are two medium-security prisons include in Butner a low-security prison, medical facility and satellite prison camp for minimum-security male inmates. Mr. Madoff was going to Butner on Monday evening but he had not arrived according to a person well-known with the circumstances. According to Scott Sussman (a spokesman for the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan), Mr. Madoff left the jail on Monday morning. But he declined to give any statement about where Mr. Sussman was being elated.

The founder of Adelphia Communication John Rigas and his son Timothy are also include as inmates at Butner they both found culpable in 2004 due to securities fraud. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, both are being detained in the low-security prison. And 84 years old John Rigas is scheduled to be free in 2018 while 53 years old Timothy Rigas in 2022.
