David Shepherds, the Santa Banta umpire of cricket is no more. The English umpire expires at the age of 68. He was well known, liked and famous personality among cricket community around the world. He also got the repute as a very respectable, honest, funny personality on and off the ground.

David Shepherd, the Englishman had a very typical style during umpiring a match. He had a healthy and fatty body with always positive gestures and postures on duty. He always kept the game alive with his great sense of humor. The players, officials, crowd everyone used to enjoy his umpiring. He also managed to remain the most consistent decision maker on the ground.

David gained the trust of the international cricket council as one of the most trustworthy employee of ICC. He also got the privilege to stand in number of finals of world cup. He was also famous by his superstation activity of standing on one leg during the score of 111.

David stood in more then 170 one day internationals and also umpired more than 90 test matches. Only David Bucknor and Rudi Koertzen managed to stand more than David.

David Shepherd was born on 27th December 1940 in a village named Instow. His father use to run a post office in the area. His wife told that the people around the street always enjoyed and liked him while watching him on TV during the day and at the door in the evening.

David was never criticized but once in a match between Pakistan and England, where he missed the overstepping by the Pakistani bowlers, which caused three dismissals of the England batsman. He was criticized at such a level that he was forced to resign from his duties.

Nevertheless, death is a reality, that has to be faced by every living being and it is so cruel that it left nothing behind but the memories. David left very sweet and respectable memories behind.
