Diane Sawyer leaves GMA. Friday was her last appearance as an anchor on the morning show.

As it was announced earlier this week that Diane Sawyer would host her last episode of Good Morning America on Friday and her co-anchor Robin Roberts asked the show viewers to use waterproof mascara as the show crew bid a teary farewell to the host who has hosted the show for more than decade.

In her last show at Good Morning America, Diane recalled some of her best moments at the show, talked about how the show helped her experience so many new things, and shared how the show provided her numerous learning opportunities.

Sawyer started with giving a warm greeting, ‘Good Morning America’, in her usual style but with more energy. She recalled her very first day at GMA when she started hosting the show on January 18, 1999 as a temporary assignment and opened it with the first story which was about a rare tornado in Tennessee. She told her viewers that over the time, she learned that tough times can become easy if they are faced together with unity. She recalled how an Iraqi woman in an angry mob, who was chanting ‘Death to America, looked at her and said, ‘I Love You.’

Diane Sawyer also talked about the how she worked with her GMA co-workers in countless sleepless mornings, the challenging days like 9/11, and Katrina. She also remembered the joyful days when her co-anchor Charlie became the grandfather and their train journey throughout the America.

It was an emotional day at Good Morning America. Friday was also the last day of Chris Cuomo on the show.

Diane Sawyer is joining World News where she would be replacing Charles Gibson who is now retiring.

Diane Sawyer is an American TV journalist who has been affiliated with ABC News. She joined ABC News in 1989 and has remained the co-anchor of Good Morning America for almost 11 years. She has been listed in the Forbes ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ in 2007.
