Wireless electricity is the latest ‘it’ thing in technological research. Engineers and researchers are looking for the ways to avoid the web of wires and transfer electricity wirelessly. Though it might not be possible to transfer electricity to far off distances wirelessly but could be transferred to closely-placed objects and Duracell has just done that! Duracell’s myGrid provides you the convenience to charge multiple gadgets wirelessly at the same time. Imagine the convenience, you come home, put your keys on the table, put your Blackberry and IPod on the charging mat, take a drink from your fridge and relax – no hassle of finding the charger and handling bundles of wires.

Duracell’s myGrid can handle multiple gadgets like cell phones and GPS devices. The mat itself is plugged to the switch through a cord; it transfers electric energy to the gadgets wirelessly. When the gadgets gets fully charged the gadget stops charging it.

An interesting debate which is currently quite hot among the critics of these wireless chargers is that these devices are not electricity efficient. They claim that more electricity is used to charge normal cell phone than copper wire.

The users of wireless chargers like myGrid say that they have provided more convenient way to charge and have provided them freedom from the hassle of managing multiple chargers. But this convenience is pricey. A normal wireless charger comes at a price of $100. Most of these chargers can handle two devices at the same time. MyGrid, which was released on Amazon, last month for online sale, can charge upon four gadgets.
