Exfixiation or Erotic Asphyxiation is a method in which brain is deprived of the oxygen supply for the purpose of sexual gratification. As bizarre as exfixiation may seem, it results in some 300~1000 deaths annually in U.S. Amazingly the practice is not some new contraption, it dates back to seventeenth century, when it was used to treat impotence. Exfixiation started, when it was noted that the people who were hanged developed erect penis. The penis remained erect even after the physical death, and if that is new for you, these corpses even ejaculated!!

In the modern times the practice of exfixiation is done through various methods. Auto Exfixiation involves depriving one’s own self of the oxygen supply. However exfixiation when done through partners involves sexual partner depriving other of the air. Noteworthy fact about the practice is that it is not limited to males only. Females gain as much gratification as males do. The air supply is cut either by pressing throat by hands, by some cord or by putting some bag around the head.

There are many cases recorded in modern history of the deaths through the practice. Few famous cases are as below:

- David Carradine, died doing exfixiation by tying his penis and neck with the same cord.

- Sada Abe, a Japanese killed her partner while performing exfixiation, afterwards she cut her partner’s testes and put them in her bag as a souvenir.

- Stephen Milligan a member British parliament, died trying to exfixiate himself

- Hustler magazine has been sued for publishing an article on exfixiation which resulted in a 14 years old boy trying the method on him and dying as a result.
