Frank William Abagnale, Jr. born in April 27, 1948, he served as a security consultant in FBI but before that he was a check confidence trickster, forger and imposter who withdraw over 2.5 million worldwide using bad checks. In 1960s, he was a charlatan for passing bad checks or around $ 2.5 million within 26 countries in the time five years
.he wrote a book based on his experience named “Catch me of you can” and the Movie with the same name “Catch me if you can” is purely based on his exploits as described in the book.
Currently a Financial fraud consultancy company is being run by him named Abegnle and Association.
His parents divorced in 1967 when he was just 16-years-old, he escaped to New York City, and decided to use his older looking appearance and to get a job he altered his driver license to appear like a ten year older man then his age.
The first fraud by William was very interesting one; he printed his account number on a blank deposit slip and then mixed it with the blank slips. So in a result the deposit written on those slips ended up in his account. He was able to put his hands on a sum of $40,000 before the bankers exposed the trick and then misrepresented his identity. He was well known for his perfectly copy the checks and other related documents. Other frauds included getting cash before the check bounced, simply writing and getting checks cashed on his overdrawn account.
He also Reproduced fraudulently a Harvard University, Law Diploma, passed the bar exam and get the job in the office of attorney general of Louisiana. He also made a fake Caumbia University Degree and he taught at Brigham Young University for a semester.
There is a list of frauds which is described by him in his book.
At last, he moved to California and eventually fell in love with a girl named Rosaolie. He told her the truth, he opened himself completely in front of her and told her everything he did and requested her not to tell anyone. But as he went back, police was there to welcome him then he realized that she had finked on him.
A movie “Catch me If you Can” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks was made on the life of Frank William Abagnale, Jr., which was very much liked by the audience.
