Iowa School Board Election Results

IOWA– -Two newcomers and one incumbent were elected Tuesday to an Iowa City school board facing major budget and enrollment issues.
School board members of Iowa School were elected on Tuesday. Once incumbent and two newcomers got the privilege of being the member of board.
The incumbent Mike Cooper of North Liberty, Sarah Swisher of Iowa City, and Tuyet Dorau of Coraville were the three contestants who got the maximum vote among the six active candidates for three open seats during the election process at Iowa school.
According to the Johnson County Auditor’s office the turnover recorded was 6.07 percent and total 4,392 ballots were casted by the voters. During the election of 1999, where the turnover recorded was 7.98 percent. This remains the highest turnover after the election of 1999 at Iowa School board elections.
The above results are not official yet; official results will be announced by the country supervisors on Friday.
Recent months observed the increasing interest in the activates of school board that may be due to the conclusion to close Roosevelt Elementary, the growing call for a new high school, registrations issues and budget concerns.
Swisher got 2,393 votes or 54 percent, Dorau got 2,197 or 50 percent and Cooper secure 2,066 votes or 47 percent for their respective seats as the member of board of school.
