Seems like everyone using AVG antivirus and iTune together are having this “itunesminiplayer.dll failed to register” problem just like me. Well couple of weeks ago I got my 16 GB iPOD and I was very happy until last couple of days, when suddenly out of no were this error message saying “itunesminiplayer.dll failed to register” pop out leaving me on my own.

So decided to surf internet and came out the error message pop out, right after AVG detected this “TROJAN horse” virus in iTune software, that is when I decided find solution but was unable to get anything on it “itunesminiplayer.dll failed to register” error. No official fix is available from AVG Antivirus or from iTune so other way left for me and decided to reinstall the iTune software that is when I found out that reinstalling iTune fixes the problem.

Many of my friends didn’t get this problem, however few of them did and I told them to reinstall the software as well, which fixed their problem except one.

We have tried over and over again but reinstalling the software didn’t work with Sam’s PC, so I figured it out that on some PC’s it might not work as this is not a proper solution to this problem. If your AVG antivirus has put that .Dll file in the quarantine or deleted it, reinstalling the software will do the magic, however do not forget to disable the antivirus before reinstalling.

I just found the solution regarding this trojan horse small.bog virus…this widespread thread in the Apple discussion forums explained everything. Actually AVG is giving a false positive there is no risk of trojan horse small.bog in iTunes but AVG Anti virus keep on quarantining files of iTune.
So that’s what you need to do….open AVG Anti virus, go to its Resident Shield thenin to Manage Exceptions and then Add Path simply add this path C:\Program Files\iTunes into it.

i am sure that AVG will correct this problem in their next definitions update.
