While airports across the country have changed stepped up their security measures, John Wayne Airport maintains its old rules.

John Wayne Airport officials said on Monday that travelers will not have to pass through any new security checks. John Wayne Airport handles domestic flights only and the airport officials feel that there is no need of tightening the security for passengers who are flying in or out of the JWA. Transportation Security Administration updated their instructions page on TSA’s website and stated that international passengers may have to go through additional baggage checks while checking in and boarding the plane. These steps were taken after a Nigerian terrorist attempted to blow up a plane while it was landing at the airport of US city of Detroit. The White House declared it a failed attempt of terrorism and instructed the security officials across the country to increase security checks on all airports. Various international airports also tightened the security.

John Wayne Airport, originally named Orange County Airport, is the only commercial airport in Orange County, California. It’s located 23 km away from the Disneyland Resort – one of the most prominent attractions of Orange County. The most prominent airlines which fly from this airport includes Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines.

John Wayne Airport was named after the famous actor John Wayne to honor him after he died in 1979. It is the first American airport which is named after an entertainer. The airport also houses a newly opened museum of vintage military aircrafts.
