“~Little John Doe\’s got it bad ~ When he first walked in her class ~He never had a crush like this~” are the lyrics of the song written by Jill Sobule. By any standards Mary Kay’s story is a remarkable one. She gained widespread notoriety for raping a minor and yet her love story is the topic of many films and documentaries. I hate the word rape to describe the actions of Mary Kay Letourneau. Should the emotions take care of the society’s cherished taboos? If it had been the case, homosexuals would never have been given the liberty which they have. Mary Kay Letourneau’s father was a prominent politician and ran for the president in 1972 elections. He had been teaching political science in a college and had an affair with a student. As the affair became public in 1982, it effectively ended his political career and estranged his relationship with Marie Kay’s mother. The couple reconciled later.
Marie Kay’s mother was a friend of famous psychic Jean Dixon and was employed by Dixon for a period when she had to leave her profession after the disclosure of Mr. Schmitz (Kay’s father) love affair.
Marie Kay Letourneau was a free spirited person from the start and was known as “Party Girl”. She chose Arizona State University to carry on her studies which was known for its partying spirit. There she met Steve Letourneau and married him. The couple had four children together. From the start Mary Kay blamed Letourneau as being a cold person.
Mary Kay started teaching in a school and there she first met Vili Fualaau when he was in second grade. The relationship between Vili Fulalaau and Mary Kay heated when he was 12. The relationship resulted in Kay being pregnant at age of 35 with the child of 13 years old Fualaau. It was also the start of problems for the couple. Mary Kay was jailed, but by no means was a jail sentence able to lessen the feelings of love on both sides. As she was released after 7 years the couple got married.
They have two children now. “Spin the bottle crazy, Mary Kay ~ Love can be amazing, Mary Kay”
