Massachusetts Senate Race

Massachusetts senate elections are not grabbing much attention of the people. There are many reasons for the lack of interest. Usually people become least interested in voting because they perceive their favorite candidate will not win or when there are many candidates to contest the election.

There are six people contesting the election of Massachusetts senate: four Democrats and two Republicans. All the candidates are battling over the vacated seat of Edward Kennedy who passed away in August due to cancer. A survey that was conducted at the shopping malls revealed that people are least interested in the upcoming elections. Most of the voters did not even know that any such elections are going to be held. The people who knew the senate elections were not much interested in the election developments. Kathy Saart, a Democrat, said: “I have not even looked. I know I have to read up on it.” Another told that she wants to vote for the republican but they have least possibility of winning the election.

Among the contesters, there is a female candidate as well who is a prosecutor and wants to become the first female member of the senate. The race becomes nasty when the money is pumped in to the election campaigns to have an “un-ethical” edge over the others. The co-owner of the “Boston Celtics” has injected more than $5 million in to his election campaign. There is another person who won the title “America’s Sexiest Man” Of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Are the credentials of the candidates not pretty good for the January 17 elections?
