Murfreesboro Tornado
Friday a tornado wallop in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on 10, April, 2009. According to the Emergency Management Agency reports “two people are killed and another 35 were hurt”.
On Friday around 1:40 p.m. a tornado struck on the city which is located on the 40 to 60 kilometers southeast of Nashville “Murfreesboro, Tennessee”.
Donnie Smith information officer with Tennessee Department of Emergency Management in Nashville released the statement that “The search and rescue attempt was continuing into the evening, she also said “so it’s possible that may not be all” she also said that the bad weather started around noon, when a group of many thunderstorms flounced across the state from the southwest.
Randy White, a public information officer with Rutherford County Emergency Management. “Many homes were destroyed and damaged and power lines all across Murfreesboro are down”.
The tornado also damaged a middle school, the Masonic lodge and the courthouse, the county hospital, Mena City Hall, churches and a library.
An official with the State Department of Emergency Management “James Reeves” spoke to the reporters saying “It looks like a war zone out here”.
During a press conference the Sherriff’s Department in Rutherford County EMS “Randy White” said that 59 calls were responded and 35 patients were transported. The press conference was held at 5 p.m. “Randy White” also said that seven patients were in critical condition, and confirmed that “Cory Bryant” and her 9-week-old girl died near Wilkinson Road. Olivia, the 9-week-old girl was found in a car seat 200 yards from her house.
