There are labs that can identify the DNA from the creature but it takes time because lots of people send in DNA samples from around the world.  This curiosity has no more priority than the FBI, Greenpeace, or any other organization after poachers to identify their take or law enforcement verifying material at a crime scene.

What I want to know is why it is so difficult to identify if it is a sloth?  That’s the only part of the story that doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s some form of a sloth.  The kids have lied about the details of the story. That’s why it doesn’t make sense.  The thing probably never came after them but once they got back to their home, the idea came to them for publicity so they went back for pictures.  I’m sure it was dead before they started throwing stones at it.

And for those of you who think this story does not make sense, how many times have you reacted in the most “obviously logical” way when you were faced with something frightening?  It’s easy to claim you know what you would do in every situation, but you can never know until you experience it first hand.

I know that, for me, it makes perfect sense to run away from something scary and only return when I have calmed down.

And for those who think it’s a sloth, even if it is, it’s still unusual and scary looking.  The kids probably wouldn’t have killed it if it did actually look like one, and if it wasn’t going toward them.

I think this is probably bull shit, even though it would be cool if it was true. There are no full body shots and no specifications whether the body was found or not. Zoologist are investigating? Who and where?
