A trail study has reveled that the Abbott Laboratories’ pills Niaspan are good enough to minimize the thickness of the blood vessel walls as compare to Merck & Co’s Vytorin and Zetia. Niaspan, Zetia and Vytorin are the pills used to control the cholesterol levels. A new debate has started on the results published in the Annual meeting of American Heart Association in Florida.

The researcher found that the Cholesterol Pills by Merck & Co are not able to help in opening the clogged arteries whereas Niaspan has shown a significant decrease in the walls of arties.

As per the researchers the thicker walls of arties are believed to disturb the blood flow which causes the heart stokes and attacks.

Steve Nissen chief of cardiology department for Cleveland Clinic in Ohio has expressed his views about the new findings. He said, although the research wasn’t that comprehensive or big and it isn’t an alternative for the massive ultimate results but I believe it will still grab the attention and still raise the confidence of the prescribers and the use of the Niaspan.

Well, this study at one end may provide the latest information and awareness to the doctors but at the same time on other hand it will definitely increase the sales of Abbott’s product and also hurt the sales of the Zetia and Vytorin.

The above study has been released in America and it will definitely raise the confidence of the prescribers and the patients to use the Cholesterol control pills which removes the fats of the blood vessel walls.
