The film actor from North and South and Dirty Dancing fame, Patrick Swayze, dies today. He was only 57 years old. Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer few months ago. He died at his home on Monday night peacefully with his family standing on his side. Patrick had a shining acting career spanning over more than 25 years.

Patrick started his acting career with his performance in a Broadway play Grease in which he replaced Danny Zuko. Following years brought strong characters and even better scripts for the actor. He then appeared in the films Skatetown USA, Uncommon Valor, The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Youngblood, Black Dog, and Grandview USA. Patrick Wayne Swayze’s performance in Dirty Dancing was critically acclaimed and the movie brought the actor in the mainstream. The movie made Patrick a household name in the Hollywood. Patrick also acted in the television miniseries North and South which was based upon the novel by John Jakes. His recent films include Keeping Mum, Icon, Jump, The Beast, and Powder Blue.

Patrick was versatile and multitalented. Besides his excellent acting skills, he had a very good voice too. Patrick Swayze sang and co-wrote a sound track for Dirty Dancing. His movie Dirty Dancing was the first movie ever which sold one million copies.

For last many months, Patrick was fighting with Pancreatic Cancer. He was a brave person and an individual with unique characteristics. His departure has definitely left a breach in the film industry.
