There is a great possibility of Oakland riots, due to the trial of a police officer for shooting a man and killing him. The trial was shifted to a court in Los Angeles due to the possibility of riots. The police officer who accidentally killed a man is now feeling sorry for his act. This is the first time after the victory of Barack Obama in US elections, when an unarmed African-American man was shot. Since the police officer who shot the African-American man was a white man there is a huge possibility of breaking out of Oakland riots. Because of possibility of Oakland riots heavy police security has been called in both Los Angeles and in Oakland.

On the first of January, 2009 at about 2am, there were reports of fights on BART railway station received by the police. The police went to the station and detained many people there at the Fruitvale station. When suddenly a BART police officer shot a man name Oscar Grant, he was sitting on the floor with his face pointing downwards, Grant died the same day. After six days of the sad this sad incident riots broke up in Oakland and they burned many cars and smashed windows of departmental store etc. The police officer fled to Nevada and he was hiding there. On the 14th of January a county attorney’s officer arrested Mehserle (the officer), he was charged for the murder of Grant. The videos of the incident are also available on the internet.
