The hilly area around Ortega High way near San Juan Capistrano has caught fire. Despite all technological advancements of human beings on the planet earth, nature off and on shows its mammoth, belligerent and roaring supremacy to restrain human pride. The impact of elemental forces like fires, earthquakes, twisters and floods usually shake humans to tell, “They may still need a Noah’s Ark if Nature wants so”.
Ortega High way near San Juan Capistrano, an area of around 250 acres is blazing. But thanks to God, the fire is not life threatening because the area on fire is beyond the population and houses. By the time the latest news came on Tuesday night, 10% fire was restrained by firemen. The rest of fire is anticipated to be under control during the next day.
Despite the hazy and smoky area, the highway is not closed. Two firefighters received few wounds and sent to a nearby hospital. “Temperature is about 80 degrees with 14 % humidity. So it’s very dry,” said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg McKeown.
Fire started around 11 a.m. in San Juan Capistrano. The fire authorities are suggesting that the greater humidity and temperature led to catching of fire. Such a hot and dry weather is always susceptible to fire ignition .The steepness of hilly area coupled with hot-n-dry whether contributes to spreading of fire on a greater pace. If fire catches the trees on the top of the hill, there is least probability of spreading of fire as compared to the case when a tree at the bottom of the hill catches fire. The blaze moves upwards very fast. The officials are of the view that firemen are doing great job.
