Retired Col. Rick Rescorla bronze statue that was unveiled on April 1, 2006 in a wonderful ceremony, is to be set in National Infantry Museum and Soldier centre at 11:00 AM on 17 September for public display. It is reported that the bronze statue of him was based on a Peter Arnett photo taken at la Drang valley, Vietnam, in 1965.

Before this public display of Rick Rescorla’s bronze statue it was stored in old Museum. Rick Rescorla died during the terrorist attack on 9/11. He was also the vice president of corporate security for Morgan-Stanley. Rick Rescorla is credited for this award for his life saving mission of 2700 people.

Rick Rescorla ‘s real name is Cyril Richard Rescorla, and was born on 27 May, 1939 in Hayle, Cornwall in United Kingdom. He started his career as paratrooper in British Army in 1957. Afterwards he came to USA and joined US Army in 1963. On completing his graduation in US Army he was ranked as Platoon leader. He was then sent to Vietnam to contribute to the war of “la Drang” in 1965 where he earned the name “Hard Core” by his fellows for his bravery in the battle.

He was awarded with the honors including Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, a Purple Heart, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
