Sabitha Indra Reddy

Sabitha Indra Reddy becomes the first women home minister for the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Sabitha Indra Reddy was chosen by the Chief Minister of the state Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy. She is 46-years-old and she will be replacing K. Jana Reddy. K. Jana Reddy is one of the four ministers who are dropped by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh whereas comprising his new cabinet as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the second time.

Sabitha Indra Reddy was the minister for geology and mines in the preceding cabinet. She was elected from Maheswaram assembly voters in Ranga Reddy district selected her last month for the second term.

Sabitha Indra Reddy has been elected for the third time overall, she is the widow of P. Indra Reddy. P. Indra Reddy was also the minister in N.T. Rama Rao’s cabinet before his death. Sabitha Indra Reddy appointment as Home Minister is important because the chief minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy looks on her as a younger sister.

In comprising the Cabinet, the Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy already made very clear and signaled that it is mainly his own team that Congress high command’s approval. Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy discussed his course of action earlier in the day with AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi regarding the composition of his cabinet of Ministers.

In the afternoon Chief Minister submitted the list of Ministers for his cabinet including Sabitha Indra Reddy’s name as home minister to the Governor on his way back to Andhra Pradesh state.
