Authorities at Seaside Heights have said that they are still searching for that 16-year-old boy of Camden County, who was taken by some rough waves during swimming in the Wednesday afternoon. Chief of Police Thomas Boyd said, the Voorhees boy, “whose name has not been released yet” was swimming in the sea off Hamilton Avenue when he was bashed over by a huge wave at around 1:00 P.M. in the afternoon.

Police Chief said there were two teenagers at the scene; lifeguard was able to rescue one out of two, he said the waves dragged the 16-year-old boy so quickly that the lifeguard had no chance to attempt another rescue.

After the incident local rescue, State Police, fire-fighters and Coast Guards have started the search for the boy and even five hours into the incident, at around 9:30 P.M. the official are still calling this a search and rescue mission and not a recovery effort.

The boy was visiting the seaside heights area along with seven other age group fellows as a part of a trip organized by a non-profit organization by Somerdale based Youth Consultation Services.

Richard Mingoia president and CEO of YCS said that everyone is distressed at Youth Consultation Services about the news; he said the prayers and thoughts of all members are with boy and his family.

If the rescue teams, who are searching a two mile stretch of ocean that extends south into the Seaside Park, are unable to save the boy, it would be the first drowning incident on a borough beach.
