Semaphore Beatles
Semaphore sign over Beatles “Help” album cover has hit the internet news recently. The album cover conveys a message in sign language know as Semaphore. The album “Help” is the 5th UK and 10th US by The Beatles which was released in 1995. The cover of the album “Help” shows the group members positioning their arms in a specific way to spell out a word in flag Semaphore.
Robert Freeman was the photographer for the album cover, according to him, the idea was to spell out the word “Help” in flag Semaphore way but when they shot the album cover with the arrangement of arms spelling “Help” it did not look good. Therefore, they decided to manage the sign to look good on the album cover and they end up with spelling “NUJV” in Flag Semaphore sign.
The British release shows The Beatles form the letters “NUJV” on the album cover, whereas the U.S release was somewhat re-arranged and shows the letters “NVUJ” on the cover.
The “Help” album was graded as 332nd in the Rolling Stone magazine list, out of 500 greatest all time albums in 2003. “George Martin” produced the album and it was released on 6th August, 1965.
