Shohreh Aghdashloo was very much ambitious for political endeavors because she had an in-born flair and spark for the politics but she thought that her entrance in the field of show-biz and films will bring her closer to people. Although she started her career as journalist yet her intellectual and creative family provided her an environment conducive for the performing arts. She was born in 1952 and entered in the performing arts quite in an early age. When she was twenty, she performed in theatre along with highly professional artists of Iran at Drama Workshop of Tehran. Her role in the movie “House of Sand and Fog” was nominated for Oscar Award which made her so much popular among huge fan-base as she might not have expected on the political arena. Drama workshop of Tehran is also a focal point of film producers who remain in search of talented artists for their films.

Abbas Kiarostami and Ali Hatami, were the directors with fresh zeal. These Film directors chose Shoreh

Aghdashloo for their films “Guzerish” and “Sutedelan”. The movies had the social and adventurous themes. But her film career doomed when Ayatollah Khomeini took over. The Iranian revolution led to strict policies towards censorship. Seeing her career in doldrums, she left her husband as well as her country and settled in London. She earned a bachelor degree in international relations and when she was at the brink of having a good position in the field of journalism, she was offered by a friend to work in a drama “Rainbow” based upon the aftermath of revolution. Then she went to the U.S. and worked there in many movies like “Maryam” and “America So Beautiful” and many others.
