Target Corporation is a chain of retail stores which was first established in the year 1902 in Minnesota in United States of America. It was originally a sub division of the huge company called Dayton Hudson Corporation.

The retail stores of Target were first brought into operation in the sixties. The profit shot up rapidly which led the Dayton Hudson Corporation to give it the status of a completely separate unit and named it Target Corporation. The headquarters are located in Minneapolis in a thirty two storied building named as Target Plaza. The retail chain is ranked as number two in the list of discounted departmental stores in US, right after Walmart. It is ranked at number twenty eight among the Fortune 500 companies. It is one of those companies which promote diversity among its workforce and take special care of its employees by providing them benefits as well as a handsome salary package.
