Tempe Town Lake became a great danger for the residents of the town as the rubber bladders which stopped the outflow of water burst and water started to come out of the dam with a speed of fifteen thousand cubic feet per second, this amount of water is too much and was coming out with a great speed. The portion of the dam which burst open was sixteen feet high and it was close to the Arizona University. The authorities stated that no buildings have come into danger and no injuries or deaths have been reported to them.

The persons who witnessed the event state that there was a sudden loud sound which was followed by the water spill, the dry bed of the Salt River got filled up with water and the animals which were present in the waters path started to run away with fear. Just as the Tempe Town Lake started to spill the police and rescue officers rushed to the river bed in order to warn any people who might be camping in the river bed, as people often do this in the summer season. No such people have been heard to be harmed but there are possibilities that some might have drowned in the water and their bodies might be found after some time.

The authorities stated that the Tempe Town Lake shall continue to dispense water till today. The officials were asked about the sudden outburst of the bladders and they stated that workers were planning to replace the bladders but they were unable to do so as the result of the winter floods.
