The Perfect Storm
As the Bobby decides to get out of the broken ship, he knows that either way he is doomed. He opens the door of the sunken ship, while Billy just watches him go. He appears on the surface of the sea with storm still raging and giant waves all around him. He addresses his wife and tells her, how much he loves her and that he would not say good bye to her.
A 2000 hit movie “The Perfect Storm” is based on true events that happened, when the storm hit in September 1991, and the Sebastian Junger’s book with the same title that has recorded the lives of the fisherman who died and the events that took place.
As the boat “Andrea Gail” returned to the shore, the catch was disappointing. Captain Billy motivated the fishermen to try their luck one more time because fishing was their bread and butter, they lived fishing and it has become much more than profession to them. As they start again the results are unchanged. They decide to go further and things start improving. They leave behind a developing storm in their quest to explore further. Just as they have started being satisfied the ice machine stopped working. And that exactly is the point where there luck abandons them.
Now there two ways for the crew, one is to go back to the shore and face the storm in their way or remain at the place where they are and for the things to improve. There is risk in the second strategy as the ice machine is not working the catch can be spoiled. They decide to face the storm. As they fight their way through high waves, they are faced with a “Rogue Wave” – a wall of water some 100 feet high.
They can do anything but to lose courage- they died fighting.
