Federal agencies recall 100,000 Toyota Tundra trucks for repair!

Federal regulators have announced that more than 100,000 Toyota Tundra trucks will be recalled from more than 20 states of United States.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that the road salts in the winter season can accelerate the erosion process of the Tundra trucks and can weaken the truck structure. The Toyota Tundra has a different structure than other vehicles. The structure holds a spare tire in the bottom of the truck and can become more dangerous for the other parts of the vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the spare tire can weaken the brake lines as well as the rear car structure. The NHTSA officials also said that the erosion of the spare tires attached to the bottom of the truck can cause failures of the brake system. The officials also announced that the erosion of these trucks can cause damage to other vehicles on the roads.

The NHTSA has recalled all the Toyota Tundra of model years 2000 through 2003. The vehicles are recalled from those states where during winters road salts are used for the de-icing of the roads. Some of these states include Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin. More than 20 states are included in the list announced by the federal agency. In addition to these 20 states, the District of Columbia is also included.

The Toyota Motors Co. has announced that they will either replace the eroded part of the vehicle or coat the vehicle with rust-resistant material to protect the area from further erosion. It has also been reported that Toyota Motors will contact the Tundra owners outside US to replace the affected parts of their vehicles.

This is for the second time in this year that Toyota vehicles owners have been warned by the states agencies. Earlier this year, more than 3.8 million Toyota car owners were warned about the poor condition of their cars’ floor mats.
