The journey of Valomilk Candy Cups started back in 1903 when “Samuel Mitchell Sifers” started making “bulk penny hard candy” and afterward “hand rolled boxed chocolates” in Iola, Kansas. Then in 1916, the family moved to Kansas City for better opportunities.

In those days, they use to make penny marshmallow. Genuine vanilla is consist of hefty alcohol content and back then candy makers use to take a few snorts every now and then and one day one of the candy makers toss down few extra sips while making marshmallows and spoiled the batch. However, “Russell Sifers’s” granddad was a genius man instead of throwing the fully ruined batch out he scooped the runny marshmallows into chocolate cups and that is how “Valomilk Dips” were invented.

Valomilk Candy Company was sold in a merger to a business in L.A, California back in 1970. The idea was to make a nationwide business instead of three regional companies. In 1971, “Russell Sifers” joined the new business to make VALOMILKS, but unfortunately, things did not worked out with the new business owner and KC plant was closed. Then in 1985, Russell once again tried to put business together in Merriam, with his wife and kids help, and with the help of family and friends Valomilk once again become available on Kansas City stores in 1987.

Nowadays Russell’s son Dave Sifer is handling the factory to make Valomilk candy cups. If you live in Kansas City and you never tasted the Valomilk candy cups, then you have wasted you time living in Kansas City.
