Vic Tayback, an actor who will forever be recognized to millions as that frequently grumpy fry cook, left some unforgettable legacy. His acting career spanned more than three decades; Vic Tayback and his character, Mel, were in several ways rather similar, both in character qualities and individual background.

The Vic Tayback with the original name of was born on Victor Tabback on January 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, his parents was from Syria but Vic, along with his brother, Joe, and sister, Emily, was brought up in the American culture, so far they were also learning a lot of the Syrian civilization with pride. He once said in an interview, that he educated to talk the Syrian language, but he left home when he was 16 and he’ll never reject his tradition.

At his early age Vic Tayback migrated with his family to Los Angeles, where he attended Burbank High School. He was a zealous sports devotee and creates himself playing on the several teams his new school had to propose, his passionate curiosity being first team football. Afterward, he attended Glendale Community College and, similar to his character Mel, he served temporarily in the Navy. Till then he didn’t choose to follow the profession of a sports commentator.

He started acting as profession in the 1959 with the movie T-Bird Gang, where he played the minute role of “a cop at the gas station,” but with a deficiency in of acting chances upcoming his way, he was strained to take on extra employment as a bank teller and cab driver.
